After checking out of our overnight stay near the airport we leave the city behind in the rear view mirror and head out to wildlife territory.

Our first visit is to a rhino care facility. Rhino poaching leaves behind a lot of orphans in dire need of care.

Donkeys are still used for transport on the African continent. We spend a day at the sanctuary, treating and vaccinating donkeys rescued from sometimes dire circumstances.

A trip to South Africa won't be complete without game viewing and searching for the Big Five, Little Five and all the other creatures living on the African continent, south of the equator.

We spend two full days of exploring.

Our journey takes us to a sanctuary where various wildlife species are taken care of and rehabilitated for release if possible. You will gain hands-on experiences of veterinary care in the capable hands of the local veterinarian.

We visit other breeding facilities where rare and endangered wildlife species.

Wildlife, habitat and people are equally important for the survival of us all on planet earth.

You will join the local expert veterinarian on her rounds, making sure that disease is under control and local community domestic animals receive much needed care and gain hands-on experience.

There are some angels in rural areas who provide much needed veterinary care to pets of people living remotely.

It is humbling to experience the gratitude of young and old during these vaccination clinics.

Kruger National Park, South Africa's flagship national park, is a must see. A day spent in the park is a feast for the eye.

The K9 anti-poaching unit gives us full insight into the techniques used in their most important work.

Connecting with the local people in the wildlife areas is an enriching experience and a must for all.

Wildlife veterinarians need to be much more than medically qualified - they are required to dart animals from a helicopter regularly. You will earn your wings and shoot at a target with a paintball gun on board the chopper of our experienced game capture pilot.

Our last day is spent at the Reptile center where you will participate in an introductory reptile care course.

Our journey ends at the OR Tambo International Airport in time for your flight back home.
