Your flight will arrive at OR Tambo International Airport. As you exit the customs area, you will be greeted by a super size statue of Oliver Tambo EcoLife Representatives will meet you at the Arrivals Hall and take you to your overnight stay near the airport.
We check out of our overnight stay near the airport and visit a wildlife veterinary hospital. Wildlife is not adapted to our modern world and those with broken wings, poisoned and other injuries need urgent treatment and rehabilitation.
We head out to the bush and set up camp.
We spend two days shadowing a wildlife veterinarian. Nothing is staged. Every expedition is unique. You will work with wildlife and assist the team with the capture and care of the animals.
We are on the move again. Rhino poaching is rife and there are many rhino orphans in need of intensive care. Our expeditions takes us to one of these facilities where we learn the ins-and-outs of rhino care.
Taking care of wildlife rescued from circuses and abandoned pets is not an easy task. We learn about nutrition, sensory stimulation as environmental enrichment, social behavior and all the essential care of captive animals.
We set up camp at the foothills of the Drakensberg Mountains. Our days are filled with lectures, practicals and outreach to local communities.
Animals, humans and habitat are all connected and it is imperative to keep all three healthy. Our experts will take give you insights into their world during the last few days.
We strike camp and depart back to the airport in time for your flight home.
