Wildlife Conservation Expedition

Step into the heart of South Africa's wild landscapes and discover what it takes to protect some of Africa's most iconic wildlife. This expedition takes you behind the scenes of conservation, where you'll work alongside experienced wildlife professionals and gain first-hand insight into the challenges of managing protected areas and conserving endangered species.

During this expedition you will:

• Travel through South Africa's diverse wildlife reserves, private conservancies, and protected areas.

• Explore a variety of ecosystems, including savanna, bushveld, grassland, and riverine forests.

• Learn how wildlife populations are managed to maintain healthy and balanced ecosystems.

• Discover the conservation challenges facing endangered species and the innovative strategies being used to protect them.

• Participate in hands-on conservation activities alongside experienced wildlife professionals.

• Gain an understanding of the science behind habitat management, biodiversity conservation, invasive species control, and ecosystem restoration.

• Meet conservation managers, ecologists, field guides, researchers, and wildlife veterinarians who are actively protecting South Africa's natural heritage.

• Be inspired to become an ambassador for wildlife conservation through meaningful experiences that connect science, conservation, and adventure.

Your flight will arrive at OR Tambo International Airport. As you exit the customs area, you will be greeted by a super size statue of Oliver Tambo. EcoLife Representatives will meet you at the Arrivals Hall and take you to your overnight stay near the airport.

After checking out of our overnight stay near the airport we leave the city behind in the rear view mirror and head out to wildlife territory.

Our first visit is to a rhino care facility. Rhino poaching leaves behind a lot of orphans in dire need of care.

We'll also visit a rehabilitation programme for vervet monkeys who are often victims of people who acquire baby monkeys and realize they aren't pets when they are confronted with the adult monkey.

Our journey takes us to a wildlife rehabilitation facility for some hands-on experience and wildlife activities.

Darting from a helicopter is an essential skill in the wildlife conservation world. Flying with our experienced game capture pilots will give you wings!

People are as much part of conservation as the animals and their habitat. Immersing yourself into the local culture is a must!

Our scaly friends forms an integral part of biodiversity. Up-close encounters with the not-so-creepy crawlies and slitherens is an exciting experience.

The African Continent has a unique ecology. In-depth understanding is essential to become an ambassador of wildlife conservation in Africa. You will have the opportunity to immerse yourself into the richness this continent has to offer from the spots, the stripes, long necks, trunks, scales, feathers and many more.

Before you leave, participate in game capture and care operations with the local wildlife veterinarian. And just because we don't stage any activities, every expedition is a unique experience on its own.

After graduating as true ambassadors of wildlife conservation in Africa the previous night, we depart to reach OR Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg in time for your flight back home.
